Due to a programming glitch in the latest Facebook "Multiverse Friend Sharing" feature, millions of avatars had their legs severed and teleported through an interdimensional portal, eventually landing on a planet in another universe.
Rather than delay Facebook's new Metaverse Platform, Meta announced plans to launch "Horizon Home" with only the Avatars upper tops. In a bizarre press release, Meta showed pictures of the new platform with Avatar torsos scattered about a cement walkway. However, if viewers zoomed out of the photo, they could distinctly see the avatar legs being sucked through various worm holes.
Multiverse Friend Sharing
The "Multiverse Friend Sharing" feature, which allows users to share friends with doppelgangers in other universes, was going to be a new addition to the "Horizon Home" Metaverse menu, expected to be unveiled in the next release.
Donald Lankman, an entry level programmer, had mis-used the split(x) function, and literally divided the avatars in two before sending them to other multi-dimensional Facebook Users. Lankman is currently being treated at the Intensive Care Unit in Mount Sanai Hospital, since he was the only IRL user to have been impacted by the glitch.
Zuckerburg To The Rescue
After an extensive search, lasting upwards of three months, Mark Zuckerberg and the Meta Mercenary Unit had finally discovered the location of the dismembered legs in the other universe, as well as the name of the planet they're on.
Officially known as Earth-747, the Meta Team dispatched an interdimensional cruiser to rescue the avatar legs and bring them back to Facebook headquarters. Zuckerberg's Avatar (Top Only) led the Meta Mercenary Unit to the planet's surface, and retrieved the Avatar legs in record time.
After the rescue, Zuckerberg was clearly relieved. Before entering the wormhole, and traveling back to their own universe (Earth-1218), he paused and let out a huge sigh of relief. Then he hopped through the scores of avatar bottoms until he gleefully found his severed legs.
A Tearful Reunion
In a rare display of emotion, the top half of Zuckerberg's Metaverse Avatar burst into tears after being reunited with his bottom half, with the two parts embracing awkwardly before embarking on the short journey back to Earth-1218.
